CHG-MERIDIAN confirms EcoVadis silver rating

The CHG-MERIDIAN Group has been awarded the prestigious EcoVadis rating in silver, confirming its continuous and reliable sustainability management. The company scored particularly well in the environmental category. This puts CHG-MERIDIAN among the top 15 percent of companies assessed by EcoVadis.

For the EcoVadis rating, the four categories of environment, ethics, labor and human rights, and sustainable procurement are assessed annually and combined into an overall ranking. This year, CHG-MERIDIAN again improved its overall rating and performed particularly well in the categorie environment.

This was due in particular to the increased number of measures taken to further reduce its carbon footprint, including the switch to electric cars as company cars and the use of packaging materials made from more environmentally friendly or biological substitutes. In addition, more comprehensive reporting as part of the sustainability report and participation in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) contributed to an increase in the score.

In the other categories, the company was able to build on last year's successes and make further progress. For example, the successful certification of our management system in the area of information security in accordance with ISO 27701 for the DACH region or the integration of social and environmental clauses in selected supplier contracts were positively included in the rating.

"The EcoVadis rating is an important yardstick for us every year. Although we have already implemented a reliable sustainability management system, the rating objectively shows us that we are on the right path and are constantly developing. We are already working on extending the scope of our Corporate Sustainability Report to the Group as part of our reporting obligations and will also commit to the Science Based Targets Initiative at the end of the year," says Mathias Wagner, CEO of the CHG-MERIDIAN Group, commenting on the award.

CHG-MERIDIAN has been relying on the circular economy business model for more than 40 years.

"Sustainability is not only a duty for us, but thanks to our business model based on circular economy an optional extra section in which we want to constantly improve. With our technology2use solutions, we are thus helping our customers to meet the new challenges in complying with sustainability criteria."

"At the same time, the rating is an important component of our own sustainable financing strategy. In the future, we want to generate every second euro of our funding from sustainable financing instruments."

CHG-MERIDIAN has just recently successfully placed its fourth sustainable ESG-linked financial instrument, bringing it a big step closer to its goal. The ESG-linked syndicated loans and bonded loans are directly linked to the EcoVadis rating, thus ensuring investors that CHG-MERIDIAN meets its sustainability requirements.
