YOUNG PROFESSIONALS & PROFESSIONALS
For more than 5 years, Désirée Vennemann has been managing various teams in the area of Internal Sales. Not only was she provided with support during her part-time master’s grogram, she could also rely completely on CHG-MERIDIAN when it came to planning her family.
My name is Désirée Vennemann, I’m 30 years old and have been with CHG-MERIDIAN since 2013. For more than 5 years I have been responsible, in a number of roles, for various teams in the area of Internal Sales. This means that I have been with CHG-MERIDIAN for almost my entire professional life. Not only was I supported during my part-time master’s program, I was also able to rely completely on my employer when planning my family. After having my two daughters in 2017 and 2018 I took short periods of parental leave before returning to my old roles, and was even able to further develop my job profile despite only working 75%.
For me, CHG-MERIDIAN reflects the values that are also important to me personally. At CHG-MERIDIAN we experience trusting and honest cooperation with an open dialog. The ability to work independently is what motivates us as employees, and is also what we expect of each other. In other words, we’re allowed to work independently and take responsibility for our own actions to whatever extent we feel confident, but also receive all the support we need. And when I say we receive all the support we need, I really mean it. We maintain an “open door” culture, which means that every colleague is welcome to talk to anyone else, and can be sure that they will be listened to and receive the help they need. I really appreciate this, and it ensures a high level of intrinsic motivation amongst employees. We always have the feeling that every single individual is important, that we have the best possible working environment and that we can make a valuable contribution. This sense of community is the main reason that I do my best for the company every single day.
If there’s one thing my days are, it’s unpredictable. Varied and surprising are adjectives that describe my everyday working life very well. We accompany projects acquired by our sales team through the entire lifecycle of the project at CHG-MERIDIAN and therefore have extensive contact with all internal and external stakeholders. As part of this, Internal Sales has many different roles. We are allowed to be creative and actively shape contracts and projects. We are also allowed to use our analytical skills and calculate these contracts. Naturally we also need to ensure accurate and diligent contract execution within and outside our systems. Because I no longer actively or permanently support customers, I support my team with anything they need. We often discuss complicated or challenging issues in larger groups. This means that my days are full of meetings with my team, the departments, our sales team, our customers and our suppliers. They are also full of discussions about the further development of our processes or about the improvement of current practices. Not to mention solving technical problems so that we can guarantee project execution. In the process I do my best to support my team’s independent and autonomous work, which is naturally much easier if the team members already have these skills and are motivated. In addition to this independent work, for us in Internal Sales it is also important that we have inner motivation, are not afraid of new challenges and changes, work diligently and precisely and have a good understanding of figures.
